I’ve recently joined Wakoopa after I read a story about it on TechCrunch.
Wakoopa is some sort of Last.fm for desktop applications.
It keeps track of the software you use and how much time you spend using them, and it sends the info to the Wakoopa website through a little tracking application.
So basically a user creates a profile on the site, downloads and installs the tracker and the profile is automatically updated.
I don’t know why, but I’ve got a weird interest (obsession?) for keeping track of what I do on a computer, which music I played, for how long. I just love the statistics concerning my computer usage.
I love Last.fm, I’m bound to like Wakoopa. Just like Last.fm, Wakoopa displays on the user profiles the recently used applications, the most used applications and a list of people who use an application most. It’s not that full featured yet, the design of the site is not that attractive, but it’s very promising and I just love the concept.
Here’s a link to my profile on Wakoopa, the three software I used most so far were Firefox, Vienna and Journler.
But like mentioned in the TechCrunch article, I also doubt this thing is going to grow into a big community since the interest compared to music is very limited. I don’t care anyway, I’m really just using to satisfy my own personal curiosity.
