Arrived in Germanland!

Well alright, it didn’t take me a week to get there, but I was too busy for the last few days to update this page. So we spent a few days in Berlin and now we’re back in good old Bayern.

I almost hated the bus ride. It took 23 hours to go from Clermont-Ferrand to Berlin and I (well, the whole bus) had to put up with a bunch of drunken French guys for a good chunk of the journey. They were loud, rude and they even started a fight with one of the passengers. We finally got rid of them in Strasbourg but man that was terribly annoying. I really felt ashamed of being French, especially in a bus loaded with Polish people…

But the few days in Berlin were really nice, I’ll try to put a few pictures online sometime soon. Nina and myself went to visit all the touristy spots like the Reichstag, the Brandenburger Tor, etc, but we also got a small tour of East Berlin with a friend of Nina who lived there before the wall came down. She told us quite a lot about how the city changed since the wall has been torn down, it was really nice.

So we’re at Nina’s place in Bavaria now, we’ll be cycling a bit, swimming a bit, running a lot (hopefully) and looking for jobs a lot (hopefully too).

Oh, and to go back to cycling, I think the next time I have to travel to Germany from France, I’ll actually cycle there. First, I won’t have to put up with any drunken people in a bus, second I’ve been thinking about bicycle touring for a while and the idea really appeals to me. One day I’ll buy a proper hybrid bike, put some luggage racks on there and I’ll be on the road, just like those guys. Yes, I’m serious.
